What is Collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant structural protein found in the body.

It is the primary component of connective tissue, and is the most abundant protein,^[1] contributing to about a 3rd of your total-body protein content.

It’s one of the major building blocks of cartilage, bones, skin, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It is also present in many other parts of the body, like teeth, corneas and even blood vessels.

It derived its name from the Greek word “kólla,” which means glue as it serves to give structural support to tissues.

Collagen constitutes one to two percent of muscle tissue and accounts for 6% of the weight of strong, tendinous muscles.^[4] Guna Collagen has many medical uses in treating complications of the bones, skin, muscles and tissues.
